Top 5 Historical Project Sites of 2022
2022 was a great year full of interesting projects for BCG. We were lucky enough to work on many historical buildings located in Massachusetts. Here we revisit five of our favorite historical project sites.
1. Charleston Lofts
The former Charleston Chew candy factory is now home to the Charleston Lofts in Everett, MA. The luxury condos feature exposed beams and brick. BCG was hired to perform a limited review of facades and water testing of windows. BCG found that window and door flashings and roof leaks needed to be repaired, as well as masonry issues that needed to be addressed. BCG then carried out the needed repairs.

2. The Edison Lofts
The Edison Lofts on Chauncy Street in Boston’s Financial District was constructed in 1890 as a warehouse for the Boston Edison Company. The building has been converted to modern luxury loft-style condos with exposed beams and bricks. BCG was tasked with repairing the façade, which came with many challenges. However, BCG was still able to help preserve this piece of history.

3. Crawford Court Condominium
The Crawford Court Condominium building is a 3-story, 75 unit, brick complex built in 1930. Located at 5 Crawford Street in Cambridge, it occupies the battle site of the Battle of Bunker Hill. BCG has been commissioned to restore the façade of the condominiums and to-date has refaced the brick and replaced rotted window headers.

4. St. Johns Episcopal Church
St. John's Episcopal Church became a church in 1854 when nine citizens of the town of Sandwich gathered for the first time as a religious society. BCG restored the interior walls of the historic building.
5. Thayer Academy Clock Tower
The Thayer Academy Clock Tower was constructed in 1876 on the Thayer Academy campus located in the heart of Braintree’s historic district. BCG has been working on the restoration of the clock tower since 2020.
